Our reading, writing, and spelling program is based on the Orton-Gillingham method. This method was created in 1935. It is a multisensory technique for reading instruction developed by an educator, psychologist named Anna Gillingham and a neuropsychiatrist and pathologist named Dr. Samuel T Orton. They combined forces to figure out how to help a group of children that had what they called at the time “word blindness”. This is now known as dyslexia. They developed an approach to explicitly teach children the connection between letters and sounds, otherwise known as phonics, in a structured and systematic way. They incorporated multisensory learning because when a child uses sight, hearing, touch, and movement to learn they have a fuller understanding of what they are being taught. The science of reading is a large body of knowledge that has been collected over decades on which techniques have been proven to work for struggling readers. This program incorporates that knowledge into free video tutorials and books that can be purchased. Our goal is to help as many people learn to read as possible in a way that is enjoyable to the student as well as keep it affordable for the parent. Reading curriculum and tutoring can be extremely expensive for a family with a child who is struggling. Our philosophy is that no child should have their path to reading blocked due to finances which is why our video tutorials are all free. Reading is the key to opening all doors in life so let’s take the locks off together.
Workbooks are great for both learning new skills and to practice skills you have learned.

Decodable readers only use words that the student has been taught. This is to ensure that they will have success in reading without help, to promote a continued love of reading. Each book shows the skills needed to read the book in the front. You should not give a child a book they are not ready to read yet. Click the links below to see the skills needed to read these books. All videos are in order of the way they should be watched.
The program is systematic and works best if done in sequence without skipping around.
It should also be done in real life which means don't just watch the videos. Print out the worksheets or use the dry erase method and do the lessons along with the videos. Hands on learning is best. The multisensory method is important and if all you do is watch your not getting your other senses involved in your learning.
What does the science of reading tell us about the way the brain learns to read?
